The culmination of the "Crossing Borders" Series - this performance night is open to the bi-co community to showcase their spoken word and storytelling talents. The first half of the night will showcase the work of participants in the Crossing Borders Spoken Word Poetry and Storytelling workshops. The second half of the performance will be an open mike.

Our emcee and host for the evening will be Jacob Winterstein. Jacob is a poet, host, teaching artist and event producer. Jacob has represented Philadelphia at the National Poetry Slam, The Individual World Poetry Slam, the Red Bull Word Clash Poetry Competition, and is a winner of the Philadelphia Poet VS MC freestyle competition. He has taught poetry, performance and improvisational rapping (freestyling) since 2006 at schools, universities, community centers and jails. He is the co-founder of The Philly Pigeon Poetry Slam, a Philadelphia Magazine Best of Philly 2012 winner and a Knight Foundation Arts Challenge 2013 winner.

Though there will be an open mic section of the evening, we encourage performers to reserve their spots on the roster in advance. For any questions, please email the event coordinator Charlie Bruce at
