This exhibit presents the research questions and interpretations of sculptures from the Grove Collection posed by students in the seminar, Religion, Literature and Representation: Images of Krishna. Through a biographical approach to objects, each project explores how things invite interactions as they traverse multiple domains, making their way to a college collection. The first case traces the habitations of these sculptures – home shrines honoring the deceased, English antique shop inventory, storefront window, and gallery exhibit display. The second toys with three icons that share a similar physical form to ponder how they may have been particularly meaningful in Hindu homes. The third one offers possibilities for how we might engage with such things from our individual, subjective positions.
