LEARN SCIENCE AND BE ENGAGED.  We cordially invite the entire Haverford Community to be apart of a series of TED Talks given by participants of BIOL356: Advanced Topics in Biology of Marine Life. Student pairs will be giving a series of nine short presentations (5 min short talks) on a diversity of topics related to human impacts in the marine environment and solutions for engaging both the local and broader communities in efforts to solve or mitigate human impacts in a diverse array of ecosystems. While these topics will focus heavily on marine biology, additional areas such as chemistry, ecology, marine policy, toxicology, and economics will be discussed in the context of introducing the audience to the problem and solutions. Presentations are targeted to layperson audience having no background in biology or marine science with the aim of engaging the larger community in a conversation of how science can inform decision making.
