Distinguished Visitor Marlon Bailey, Associate Professor, Women and Gender Studies, Arizona State University 

In this presentation, Bailey examines the role that racial/gender realness and performativity play in the lives of LGBT people in the Ballroom community. Bailey delineates the gender system and the concept of realness in Ballroom community. In general, Bailey will discuss what is at stake when black queer people perform gender for survival.
